Who We Are
Marathon County Special Education (M.C.S.E.) was established in 1958 to provide special education and related services to several schools in the Marathon County area. Currently, the department offers programs and services to six rural districts: Abbotsford, Athens, Edgar, Marathon, Rosholt, and Spencer. The department works with approximately 500 students and supervises about 150 staff. Some of the services provided include Administration/Supervision, Assessment/Evaluation Services, Assistive Technology, Audiology, Behavioral Specialists, Professional Development, Data Management/Curriculum Development, D.H.H. Support, Paraeducators, Program Support/Diagnostic Teachers, Physical/Occupational Therapists, School Psychology Services, Speech/Language Pathologists, Secretarial/Support Staff, Health Services, Vision/Orientation Mobility, and Vocational Training Specialists.
M.C.S.E. aims to ensure all eligible children receive appropriate education opportunities within state and federal laws. Specifically, our organizations are designed to deliver the following opportunities.
- Provide educational and assessment services to all eligible special education students in the participating rural schools.
- Provide supervision and leadership to all special education and related services personnel through ongoing staff development activities and training.
- Assist in providing vocational training and opportunities for students.
- Provide linkages for parents and students to community agencies.
- Provide quality educational programs to all special education students.
- Provide a wide array of quality-related services to eligible students.
- Provide linkages between regular and special education programs.
